Casa Asia, with the support of the Japan Foundation, organises a special activity programme owing to the first anniversary of the earthquake and the subsequent tsunami that devastated the Northeastern coast of Japan on the 11th of March 2011.
The international symposium “Society, Media and Technology: Japan 11.03.11” is the main event of this programme which will bring journalists and IT experts together on the 8th of March 2012 in Barcelona in order to discuss learnt lessons in the media coverage and the use of new technologies in crisis situations, specifically in the Japanese case.
On the 8th of March in Barcelona a roundtable open to the public, “Japan, one year later” will be held. It will approach the current situation of the Japanese society and the efforts that are being made for the future, which will take place on the 9th of March in Madrid.
The activity programme includes the presentation of the book Fukushima. Crònica d’un tsunami nuclear, by Sergi Vicente and Lluís Caelles, journalists of Televisió de Catalunya (TV3), a family day on Saturday 10th of March where we will discuss the Japanese mythology that surrounds the natural phenomenon and other activities, as well as a documentary series «Letters from Japan», which will take place between the 24th of March and the 26th of May at the headquarters in Barcelona.
